Babble & Beat - Earlier this year you released, 'From First to Last'. What do you hope people are getting out of this album?
Matt - I hope they're getting everything they've always gotten out of this band and more. We have always been ones to change from album to album, and hopefully people are starting to pick up on that. I don't think anyone ever really wants to hear the same record over and over.
Babble & Beat - Are you currently working on new music? If so, what’s inspiring you lately?
Matt - Nothing serious right now, just kinda fiddling around. We just put out our record like 3 months ago so I think it will be a while before we start pursuing any serious writing, but who knows...
Babble & Beat - Can you think back a bit and tell me about your Warped Tour performance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the day in general for you?
Matt - Our show was awesome! I had a lot of fun. We made all the kids in the crowd throw trash all over our monitor guy - 'cause he asked for it! My family lives close to there. So, after we played I left and went to eat dinner with them.
Babble & Beat - Have there been any particular bands you especially looked forward to meeting / seeing on stage while on the Warped Tour? Were these bands as cool / good as you hoped?
Matt - I was looking forward to meeting Angels and Airwaves. I got to and it was awesome. We are now part of the community site Tom helped start called Modlife. Super amped on that.
Babble & Beat - Can you tell us about two or three things you’ve experienced while on the Van’s Warped Tour that you never had before?
Matt - Not sleeping for a month. Ha-ha. Getting really tan. Watching a guy have to go to the hospital from eating too much hot sauce and crying.
Babble & Beat -
The last sounds fascinating and sad at the same time.
If you were to play the Warped Tour again next year, what bands would you like to see added to the bill?
Matt - Muse.
Babble & Beat - The first 3 words that come to mind to describe yourself as a person are?
Matt - Energetic, dorky, creative.
Babble & Beat - Now, pick 3 words that describe yourself as a musician?
Matt - Fickle, inspired, bored. I'm all over the board when it comes to my opinion of myself as a musician.
Babble & Beat - How do you and your bandmates handle differences of opinion?
Matt - We just talk about everything a lot and come to a compromise of what everyone wants. We are all very different from each other, so we have a lot of practice in this area.
Babble & Beat - In addition to many upcoming gigs, what else is planned for From First To Last?
