Mary Lee Kortes has undoubtedly mastered songwriting. If she didn’t prove it to you before, she sure as hell proves it here. Add her sweet & soothing voice, the one that sounds a bit like an even mix of Susanna Hoffs, Sheryl Crow, & Shawn Colvin, and you’ve got a sure-thing.

‘All That Glitters’ – The song is very comfortable; it's like having a great conversation with your best friend.

‘Wasting The Sun’ – is one of our favorite tracks on this album. It’s witty and puts an instant smile on your face. You’ll listen to it over and over again! WXRT (Chicago) – are you playing this yet?

Lyrics sample:

I was here before I was born
I was whole before I was torn
Bitter start to happy ending
To tell the truth I'm still pretending

Maybe I'm just wasting the sun
Maybe I'm just wasting the sun
What if I just get burned and run away from here

‘Verla’ is emotionally deep. It offers the best of her on vocals and is an extremely well-written song.

‘Nothing Left To Say’ – She puts her heart and soul into this one especially. You can feel her pain. Another highlight on the album.

Lyrics sample:

What did I do
To think there was a reason
We could beat the odds
The summer's through
The autumn winds are teasin
Just like they always do

I'm turning inside out
Just to show I love you dearly
I'm turning inside out
Just to show you my heart clearly

‘Lucky Me’ – A little Chrissie Hynde pops into this lovely, cute and kinda-sexy tune.

‘Learn From What I Dream’, ‘Blood Of Stones’, and ‘Falling Again’ are other fantastically crafted tracks.
