"Frisbee (his real name) is a Louisville, Kentucky artist releasing ReDISCOVERY, a wide-sweeping manifesto that combines themes of unity, perseverance and meditations on a better world, and presents them with pop sensibility and gusto. This is a story of finding love, loosing love and in the process rediscovering who you are." - Official website
'ReDISCOVERY' is a very strong piece of work! The songwriting is fantastic and the vocals don't fail to please! There's a very nice flow to the album and a cheerful, uplifting vibe throughout. There are moments that I am reminded a bit of the immensely talented Crowded House.
'Getting Down' was a smart choice for the opening song. It sets the tone well, and assures you off-the-bat that your time won't be misspent listening to the rest of the album.
'Alright' is a melancholy tune that proves that this ride is uphill (only getting better)!
'The True' is a super-catchy track that could easily be a sizeable hit... if it got into the right radio hands. 'The True - Reprise' is a juicy little morsel as well!
'Sweet Andie' was bittersweet for me. On the plus side it was a little Peter Himmelman-ish. On the down side, and obviously not Frisbee's fault, it reminded me of a longtime thorn-in-my-side of the same name.
'Everyone', 'Believe', 'All My Life', 'Little One', and the sexy & soulful 'I Want U Back' are other favorites.
Wait, how can I miss mentioning 'It Must Be Good (Being You)' as a highlight? You do realize now that this pretty much classifies the whole album a "highlight," right?
I love Frisbee's style - the layers of piano, drums, synthesizers, guitars, strings, and other instruments that are woven through the tight, but freeing, melodies. The music feels sincere and really makes a connection with the listener via its relatable lyrics. In addition, I'm in a much better mood than I was approximately 45 minutes ago!
