We reviewed Lil Beck's 'From Shit To Champagne' release awhile back, so I had a pretty good idea that I'd love 'Moj & Greg Ride Again.'
HIGHLIGHTS:
‘Mark Loves The Ladies’ - I am SO amused by this little gem! The humor is hysterical and yet the song is downright jamming. It's especially priceless when Moj cuts in near the end of the song and says "I really do, I love the ladies..." Listen to it and you'll know what I mean. These 2 fellas are real characters!
'Moj and Greg Ride Again' - Just a damn good song. A little Lou Reed meets Frank Black. Nice mention of the Chicago Cubs! Here's a lyrics sample:
"Moj & Greg are takin a ride again
Settin yer minds, once more a-spin
Like bettin on the Cubbies, ya never gonna win
But Moj and Greg are takin a ride again"
'We Almost Had A Breakdown' - I really like the style of this song! A little blues, a little folk, a little other. Fun vocals; a teensy bit like you'd expect from Tenacious D. At some point I was also reminded, for just a moment in Moj's voice, of Soul Asylum.
'Louie, Louie' - Their cover of this song, originally written by Richard Berry and most famously recorded by The Kingsmen, is done in Carman 9's own style. The more I play it, the more it's growing on me!
So, this is where you take a measly buck out of your wallet and prepare an envelope for mailing. It's practically like stealing yourself a shiny new copy of 'Moj & Greg Ride Again'.
