Indie / Pop / Experimental

The CD starts out with ‘Make Dead’. Its melodies are fun and a bit free spirited. However, the mental-hospital-patient sounding chorus on this track unnerved me a bit... BUT there’s nothing wrong with a tiny scare! Anyway, it's growing on me.

‘No Difference’ is a stronger track and has an extremely catchy beat; I absolutely love it!

The title-track, ‘Dishes & Pills', is a sweetly-coated song about the end of a relationship. It’s amusing, pretty and very charming, and really showcases Audrey’s lovely vocals & style... as does ‘Ukalalee Song’.

I'm liking ‘Babies’ the more I listen to it. I have interpreted the song as being about a baby’s perspective. For instance, in the background of the track you can hear voices of misc. people, and seemingly the typical home-environment sound of a TV.

Other standouts are: ‘Cancer’, ‘Later Alligator’ - about moving on after high school and college without looking back, ‘Simplify’, ‘Took Me There’ – probably my very fave, and ‘Primadona’.

Skip the fancy coffee for a 2 or 3 days and buy this CD instead. Available now courtesy of Folkwit Records.
