Indie / Acoustic

'Growing Flowers By Candlelight' is Ainslie Henderson’s debut album. It was released on his very own label, Amphibian Husbandry (Edinburgh).

‘Dust’ – Acoustic & folky, this song drips with emotion and beauty. “My thinking is unsteady, like the spaces under chairs” is just a couple of lines from a song filled with lush words & melodies.

‘Don’t Say’ – I can definitely tell I already love Ainslie’s vocals and personality. He opens himself up for the whole world to see. A song about heartbreak from a view we can all relate to.

‘I Need Reminded’ – A song that connects with you; drawing you in to sit in front of him, cup of hot tea in hand, for heart to heart banter.

‘Daytrip’ – What a songwriter! The lyrics and melodies are full of depth and loveliness. This tune has just a teensy bit of David Gray and Coldplay (the mellowest Coldplay) flavoring.

‘Go Back To Sleep’ – Honestly, these first 5 songs are all equally and fantastically well-written songs. All are favorites so far!

‘Love I Remember’ – “It’s not in your name. It’s not in your number. It’s not in the text, that our fingers fumble. It’s not in the games, or the shows, the telling you yes or the telling you nos. None of these things, none, do I recall, now. It’s only love, love, that I remember.”

This is hands-down one of the best songs I have heard this year. I can’t believe the cd is only getting better… just when you think there’s no room at the top!

‘Finding A Lighthouse’, ‘Body To Bed’, and ‘Man Made’ are more examples that showcase Ainslie’s expert timing & stylings. When you hear these attributes of his, you’d expect them to come from a well-seasoned musician who is releasing their 8th or 10th album – not one who has just released his debut!
