5.8.08 MUDHONEY

Grunge / Alternative / Garage

Mudhoney has a new album, 'The Lucky Ones', and it is scheduled for a May 20th release. This will be their 8th full-length album.

"Recorded in a scant 3.5 days (including overdubs) with Tucker Martine (who also recorded four songs on the previous album, 'Under a Billion Suns'), Mudhoney went in armed with a batch of new material expecting to spend a fair amount of time getting it right. Bang — and bang again after some mixing — and a new album was birthed in record time, faster than anything else the band’s done to date." - Sub Pop Records

5.5.08 MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - NEW CD/DVD WITH SPECIAL MASKS MADE BY THE BAND

Official news: "We have all been anxiously waiting for June 24th. On this day, the DVD/CD entitled 'The Black Parade is Dead' hits stores, online outlets, and other avenues. Starting today, you'll be able to preorder said DVD/CD directly from theblackparadeisdead.com. It depicts the final 'Black Parade' show in all of its arena-rock glory, live from Mexico City this past Fall.

We also decided to include a video of the intimate show we had at New Jersey's legendary club, Maxwells, this past October. We played one of our very first shows on that stage, and it was amazing to be on it once again. These shows were some of the most memorable and fun we've ever had onstage. The kids at the Mexico City show actually overpowered the PA, and their voices were deafening. The Maxwells show was complete pandemonium, and the video captures the feeling of and old school MCR show, the way it was way back when. I want to apologize for the wait, as we wanted to make sure that it was absolutely perfect for your viewing pleasure.

With the pre-order, you are entitled to 3 DRM-free download of select tracks from the Mexico City show ('Mama', 'Dead', and 'Welcome to the Black Parade'). Inside the special edition, you'll find the DVD tucked inside of a collectible pinewood coffin box with our logo burned into the top. Also, inside, you will receive 1 of 5 Day of The Dead-esque masks we each designed. We had a blast designing them, and hope you have a blast wearing them, (or whatever else you choose to do with them). The special edition also contains a death certificate of authenticity with our signatures printed on it. This edition if extremely limited, so if you want one, pre-order sooner than later.

We are almost finished with our special intimate theater tour and it's been insane. Some of venues we haven't played in many years, and flood my head with fond memories. It's amazing to be able to share with all of our fans old and new.

We love each and every one of you, and hope you have as much fun watching it as we had making it." Regards, Mikeyway

4.25.08 SIX MISTAKES BANDS MAKE ON MYSPACE

I realize musicians aren't always business minded, but I think you have to try to become business minded in order to up your chances of success. There are so many small things you can do to help yourselves.

1) Unless you're last name is Morrissey, Van Halen, Jagger,...
Don't make people guess your last name in order to request your band's friendship on MySpace. That's just asking to turn people away, and off. Personal sites, we understand. Band sites, it's a no-no.

2) When someone, like our music magazine, asks for a band's friendship, either accept it or deny it - it's that simple. Sending the following message instead is ridiculous:

"Thanks for the add request. But I won't accept FR (friend requests) without message because I believe every single relationship begins with saying "Hi." Here is more of my thought. If you agree, drop me a line. I'm OK with any single word even like "Fxxkoffstopplayingthatshit!!!!!!" Sorry if this message makes you feel uncomfortable. If you don't want to take your time, just leave it and I'll deny it after a week."

It's great to reach out to people/fans, but to require it is a lot to ask.

3) If your MySpace page says something like, "Buy our new album," make it easy for people to purchase it. State what outlets are selling it and/or place a link on your site. The easier you make it, the less likely you are to lose sales.

4) Place a bio, large or small (and small is better than nothing), on your page. Not only will this create more of a connection with your current or future fans, it will also provide band information to publications who wish to write about you.

5) Your MySpace music player: Each track should be labeled properly. For example, with the song title AND the name of the album it appears on. If there is no song title or album yet, may we suggest something like "demo" for the song title and "upcoming 2009 album" for the album info?

6) Keep in mind that MySpace users have the option to have all music players auto start. If they have that option chosen and you have a video (or in many cases we've seen, several videos) auto starting, your music player and videos will all be playing at the same time. It's not only unpleasant, it also makes your visitors physically stop them, or perhaps just leave your page. - Stacy

4.21.08 SENSER

Alternative / Rock / Electronica

Expect a new album from Senser this summer...

"'End Of The World Show' is a stream of consciousness, a multi-themed cut & paste with the central idea that it's part of human nature to always think that the end of the world is imminent.

And of course it has come many times before for various civilizations throughout human history.

Post 9/11, end-times paranoia, social isolation and constant distraction-caused consumer culture. The holographic nature of the body and the universe, modern warfare as a kind of showbiz porn. The sexy side of the apocalypse. These are all themes running through 'End Of The World Show'.

Senser were a key part of the early 90’s music scene: having released a truly seminal and mould-breaking album ‘Stacked Up’ which achieved No 4 in the UK album chart and worldwide sales of over 250,000." - Planetary
